Unemployment state by state
See where your state ranks.


The national unemployment rate rose to 4.6 percent in January from 4.5 in December. The unemployment rate for those with a college degree or higher rose even more, climbing to 2.1 percent from 1.9 percent in the December reading. The state numbers below are for December and were released on Jan. 23.
